An abandoned factory was recycled into an urban family home.
The feature steel entry staircase is a continuous sculptural ribbon that transitions the derelict exterior into the highly refined interior.
An extensive grassed lawn suspended on the first floor creates a garden oasis that engages directly with the open-plan living spaces. The old factory walls create a mask that frames views across the city, parks and gardens. Following a burst of brilliant Autumn colour the leaves covering the facade fall revealing the original brick work over winter.
The exploration of robust contextual materials is counterbalanced with meticulously detailed joinery, furniture, artwork and lighting.
